Although having been in existance for many years before, the club was in decline due to retirements and there was no-one forthcoming to take on leadership. So in 1993 the club was reformed and has been running successfully since. The aim is to provide friendship for mainly the elders of the village but anyone is welcome to come along for two hours every other Wednesday afternoon, September - June, in the village hall.
A cuppa and biscuit is provided following either a social when games are played, such as dominoes or cards or speakers which vary but have includeed a Lincolnshire town crier, the Mayor's mace bearer Linda Crust, gardening, gentle excercise, police, local government, wildlife experts, various demonstrations, EG Butchery, wintertime meals and encoustic art. AGE CONCERN is a very popular and we usually receive very useful goodies!
Outings are also included in the programme. We have been to garden centres, a windmill, a Japanese centre and garden, Whisby and a farm shop. Members offer their gardens during the summer when we hold garden meetings with lovely high teas.
The aim of the club is to encourage people to come out and enjoy the friendship offered with both male and female members. We have members who are able also entertain us with small acts, readings and demonstrations. One particular member is very popular with her monologues!
The invitaion is for you to come and join us!
