The latest Half Moon Golf Society was founded in 1997. The society consists of a maximum number of 24 golfers of varying age, sex and abilities. Whilst most members of the society are competitive, the overriding factor is one of sociability and all society events are organised to optimise playing partner variations and social interaction. Alan Turner has played in every single official event since the start of the society and continues to organise the regular matches, plus weekend and special events.
This years events will include a summer weekend, a society day, singles knockout, 7 evening fixtures at local courses, a Christmas 2 club event and a sunday afternoon at Blankney Golf Club.
Our regular trophies awarded include, the summer weekend, society day, aggregate winner, most birdies in the season and the player of the year which is awarded for a mixture of sportsmanship, courtesy, enthusiasm, improvement, effort etc. and occasionally actual golf ability. A new trophy this year will remember the contribution and friendship of John Wilkins.
Although the society is generally full, anyone who would like to be considered for membership should leave their details at the Half Moon for the attention of the secretary Jane Quibell.

Denise Hadfield was nominated by the society as
"Golfer of the year" |
A top golfer presents Colin Bull with the new "John Wilkins" trophy in memory of our friend and society member. The best combined score from both rounds on the Gainsborough courses (John was a member there) will bring you victory. Rather appropriate if not a little suspicious that Colin is a member at Gainsborough!
Colin Bull was also our aggregate winner. This competition is generally recognised as the hardest to win. |
