Lawnmower racing in Willingham
Lawnmower racing in Willingham June 5th/6th 2008
Lawnmower racing started in 1973 in the Cricketers Arms in Wisborough Green, West Sussex by Jim Gavin and a group of locals looking to find a cheaper motorsport. Then the British Lawnmower Racing Association (BLMRA) was formed and then in 1982 the North West Lawnmower Racing Association (NWLMRA) was formed. We have been racing lawnmowers for the past 6 years and we have found this to be a fast and furious sport where we race all over the country in many sprint races where we compete for trophies at the end of the year. During the year we race at various shows from as far north as Barnard Castle to Bedford in the South, these are often 4WD events plus garden and steam shows. Every year we have a charity 6 Hour endurance race and we take part in the BLMRA’s 12 Hour endurance race.

Group 2 Roller driven machines (cricket pitch, tennis courts)
Group 2 Wheeled machine (council verge cutting machines)
